Opiemme in Croazia

Gli ultimi lavori di Opiemme in Croazia, a Vodnjan (Dignano) in Istria per la seconda edizione del Sobe – Rooms Festival.
La precarietà della crisi metaforizzata da uno scarno albero composto dalle parole della poesia Soldati di Ungaretti (There we are like leaves on trees in autumn), un fumetto che commenta un estremismo, e un cormorano che giudica il nostro impatto sulla natura. Lavori di street art contraddistinti da un’utilizzo della poesia e delle lettere per disegnare, con tematiche sociali e un’estetica riconducibile alla typography art (il cormorano è composto con il carattere Porto, creato da Rems182).

Here are the last works of Turin based street artist Opiemme in Croatia for the second edition of Sobe – Rooms festival, with a stencil style deeply connected to poetry, social themes and typography art.
In these works we can see all these influences mixed together: a tree with naked branches represents a metaphor of the precariousness of the current financial crisis, made up of words from the poem Soldiers by Ungaretti (“There we are like leaves on trees in Autumn”); a comic cloud made of crosses comments on an extremist symbol, and last a cormorant, made up of C letters, judges our impact on nature, warning human beings: “You act as you want an end”.
Street art work characterized by the use of poetry and letters for painting, and by social themes as seen in his latest solo show at Punto Due Gallery, where he is exhibiting ten works strongly connected to typography art and with background music by British psychedelic tech-funk producer Hedflux from Broken Robots Rec.
